Kia ora and welcome to the official website for project band Transit of Venus. My name is
Kristie Addison, I’m the lead singer, main composer and generally the bossy chick
who makes ToV happen. I maintain this site myself (when I have time) as a way of keeping in touch with the friends, family and random strangers who enjoy my music all over the world.
Tory ‘Jester’ Staples is the better half of Transit of Venus. He’s my favorite drummer in the whole world, all round good guy, and NZ manager for ToV. I played with Tory in my previous band Amperzahn (Current Status: Indefinite Hiatus) and we’ve had a great few years working together. It really sux that we live in different countries now!

There have been a hoard of other people involved in ToV, as you browse through the site you’ll come across them all. Amazing musicians whom I’ve dragged into my projects because I love their own music, and hard working behind-the-scenesters (who are you kidding, you guys ARE the scenesters!) who have given me more support than I possibly deserve.

If I had to name a genre for ToV (it turns out I do have to…) I’d be inclined to use the word Rock. I’d be obliged to mention Pop also, and I might throw in Glam if it gives me an excuse to dress up now and again. I’d say Indie because our debut EP was partly recorded in my bedroom. So here ya go… Indie-Glam-Pop-Rock

What else am I supposed to write about us… Oh yes, we’re awesome, more kick-ass than a donkey whats just bin kicked.

I’m gonna go on a bit, it’ll give you something to read while you wait for the video to load if your net is a bit slow.

Transit of Venus Project originated in my adopted home town Auckland, New Zealand (if you must know I was born in Sydney and grew up in Tauranga). At the start of year twenty-ten I moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and here I am! Watch out for exciting things happening here any second now…

If you want to hear the occasional bit of news (about once a month) and get free special downloads from time to time, then signing up to the mailing list is a good idea. There’s a spot on the sidebar where you can enter your email, and you get a free MP3 of ‘Meatmarket’ straight off.

If you want to be a bit more regularly informed about what I’m up to then subscribe to the Latest News RSS feed, or become a facebook fan (facebook page is automatically updated from the RSS feed). I blog on the Latest News page supposedly once a week, though it can be more or less depending on my mood. Sometimes I post video blogs, sometimes I include free downloads. Sometimes I talk about things other than myself. It’s a bit of a lucky dip!

If you want to hear my constant whinging about the weather, public transport, bathroom lizard invasions and the likes, twitter is your best bet. WARNING: I pay no attention to the often blogged rules of twittiquite and will ofter twitter what I’m eating. @KristieAddison

Oh, there is also the @transitofvenus account which mostly twitters reasonable things like new blog posts, free downloads, upcoming shows.
We have a myspace of course. www.myspace.com/transitofvenus We don’t check it often, we don’t play the mass friend collection game. Personally I hate myspace and avoid it like the plague BUT since it is a necessary evil you can listen to lots of our songs on there. Enjoy! (You masochist).
